There are few things more freaky than realizing that your favorite celebrities are actually aging. Intellectually, you’re aware that they’re not vampires, and yet you’re constantly amazed every time you find out that one of your favorite celebs is a lot older than you think.
The thing about the entertainment industry is that celebs fight tooth and nail to ensure that Father Time doesn’t take off with their good looks. They’ll cut, tuck, spackle and lift every part of their bodies to ensure (or try to ensure) that they look at good as 50 as they did at 25.
Here’s a list of 15 celebrities that are turning 50 in 2014 (assuming that they’re not lying about their ages… then they’d be even older!)
1. Nicholas Cage
That’s right, This eternally youthful cool kid/Francis Ford Coppola nephew is entering his fifth decade on earth. Kind of makes you wonder if he’s ever taken his face off…. You know, for plastic surgery and what not.
2. First Lady Michelle Obama
People seem to do a double take every time it’s mentioned that the first lady is hitting the big 5-0. Her flawless skin may have something to do with that.
3. Bridget Fonda
Remember watching her in Singles, that ensemble movie featuring a slew of young, hip up-and-coming actors? That was 22 years ago.
4. Matt Dillon
Speaking of Singles… It’s hard to believe that the rocker doofus from the film is hitting the half-century mark as well.
5. Mariska Hargitay
The Law & Order SVU actress is turning 50 and easily looks 35.
6. Rob Lowe
Are you starting to notice a theme here? Another actor from the era of 80s and 90s coming-of-age films and a perennial member of the “Brat Pack”, Lowe has lived a lot of life in his 50 years.
7. Christopher Eccleston
This ninth “Doctor Who” and Manchester United supporter is joining the 50s club.
8. Elle MacPherson
You probably thought supermodels were exempt from getting older, but they’re not. This supermodel is entering her fifth decade armed with the same good looks she’s always had. Yay for her.
9. French Stewart
Wait, what? Nope. We refuse to believe that Harry Solomon from Third Rock From the Sun is turning 50 this year. Except he is.
10. Ian Ziering
This Beverly Hills 90210 alum is further proof that time marches on for everyone. It’s also further proof that life isn’t fair because he looks better now.
11. Christopher Reid
Who, you ask? “Kid”, as in one half of Kid ‘n’ Play. He was the one with the 15-foot tall afro. Yes, he’s 50. He’s got three kids. Teenagers!
12. Tracy Chapman
A true class act, she’s composed, toured and performed for most of her 50 years, but she’s best known for her hit, “Fast Cars.”
13. Andy Serkis
Gollum is 50. Gotta say, we thought Gollum was a lot older.
14. Melissa Gilbert
Laura Ingalls is 50. We can’t believe she’s, like, older than Pa!
15. Lenny Kravitz
Ok. We’re not making any accusations, but someone hasn’t aged a bit since 1987. Just saying!
