Famed Broadway star, comedian, and one of entertainment’s greatest legends, Jack Carter, died in his Beverly Hills home on June 28th, at the age of 93. Carter, who was best known for his appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show, dies from respiratory failure.

The notoriously witty man has a truly amazing and rich career, which spanned for over 70 years. He made more than 50 guest appearances on the popular Ed Sullivan Show, and even had his own variety show in the 1950’s. Carter also made appearances on The Jackie Gleason Show and The Andy Williams Show.

Alongside his comedic talents which he shared with the world on numerous TV shows, Jack could also be seen on Broadway pretty often, in shows such as The Odd Couple, Top Banana, Call ME Mister, Oliver!, Mr. Wonderful, Sugar, and many more. The performing genius even hosted the first-ever televised Tony Awards in 1956.

But Carter didn’t limit his talents there. The comedian also directed Here’s Lucy, the famed and popular comedy TV show staring Lucille Ball. It’s also fair to mention that the Emmy nominated actor also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Jack Carter is survived by his wife Roxanne, with whom he’d been married for nearly 45 years, his kids Vicki, Michael, Chase, and Wendy, and several grandchildren.
