After abruptly canceling her Las Vegas residency last August to care for her ill husband, Céline Dion made the announcement she will be returning to her show on August 27, 2015, after a year-long break.

Dion spoke to the reporters at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, and said she wants to make a comeback for René Angélil, her husband of 20 years who is battling throat cancer.

“If there’s going to be one person in the theater that night it’s going to be him,” Dion said, adding, “The reason we did not come back before was because I wasn’t emotionally ready to come back.”

“My husband and my family needed me, they still do.”

Dion explained that Angélil is “working really hard on his health.”

Mariah Carey has been chosen as the replacement for Dion and has been rocking the Caesars Palace’s Colosseum theater with her #1 to Infinity show.
