2. Joni Mitchell

Folk singer, Joni Mitchell, was a bit older that Rod Stewart when she had to give her baby up for an adoption. Mitchell was 21 when she found out she was pregnant.

The singer simply wasn’t as successful as she became later in her life. She was financially unstable, ashamed and didn’t want her parents to find out.

Many years later, Mitchell decided to go public with her story in a quest to find her estranged daughter and the two managed to reunite.

Some of Joni Mitchell’s songs are actually about her missing child. The 1982 song called “Chinese Cafe” features the lyrics, “My child’s a stranger / I bore her / But I could not raise her.”
