It’s only normal to assume that a woman who is nowadays considered as one of the most beautiful celebs and the most amazing actress has been like that her whole life. However, this is not the case with Kate Winslet, who recently opened up about what she was told as a kid and how that reflected on her.

The actress was filming an episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls when she decided to share a piece of her childhood that probably affected her life decisions the most.

While talking to Bear Grylls, Winslet said: “When I grew up, I never heard positive reinforcement about body image from any female in my life. I only heard negatives. That’s very damaging, because then you’re programmed as a young woman to immediately scrutinize yourself and how you look.”

Kate has three children, one of which is a 15-year-old daughter Mia Honey, which gets all the support her mom can give: “I stand in front of the mirror and say to Mia, ‘We are so lucky we have a shape. We’re so lucky we’re curvy. We’re so lucky we’ve got good bum,’ and she’ll say, ‘Mommy, I know, thank God.’”

Who would’ve thought that an Oscar-winning actress of such facial and bodily beauty could come to what she is today thanks to being bullied because of her looks?
